Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
2. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPR FR
3. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY RR
5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector from the parking brake switch assembly.
b. Remove the lock nut and adjusting nut from the parking brake cable assembly No.1.





c. Remove the 2 bolts.





d. Using a screwdriver, raise the claw on the parking brake lever sub-assembly, and remove the parking brake cable assembly No.1 from the parking brake lever sub-assembly.
e. Remove the parking brake lever sub-assembly from the body.
6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the screw and parking brake switch assembly.
7. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
a. Install the parking brake switch assembly to the parking brake lever sub-assembly with the screw.





8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the parking brake cable assembly No.1 to the parking brake lever sub-assembly, and temporarily tighten the adjusting nut and lock nut.
b. Using a screwdriver, fix the parking brake cable No.1 to the claw.





c. Install the parking brake lever sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 12.5 Nm (128 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
d. Connect the parking brake switch assembly connector to the parking brake switch assembly.
9. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
10. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
11. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY RR
12. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPR FR
14. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
