Introduction
The moon roof assembly on certain 2005 model year Scion tC vehicles may exhibit a creak or snap noise during body flex conditions, such as entering a driveway or driving on rough roads. The following repair procedure has been developed to improve this condition.

Applicable Warranty:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
1. Open the sliding roof glass.
2. Loosen Torx screw No. 1 and remove the sliding roof garnish.
3. Remove screw No. 2 and apply thread lock sealant, such as Loctite 242 or equivalent, to screw threads.
4. Retighten screw No. 2.
Torque: 2.5 +/- 0.5 N.m (25.5 +/- 5 kgf.cm)
CAUTION:
The screwdriver has to be set at a slight angle to the screw head because the screwdriver contacts the sliding roof housing panel. Therefore, retighten the screw with care so as not to damage the screw head.
5. Reinstall sliding roof garnish Torx screw No. 1 (refer to Figure 2).
Torque: 4 +/- 0.5 N.m (40.7 +/- 5 kgf.cm)
6. Repeat for opposite side.
