The procedure is the same for BOTH the LH and RH sides.

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. Remove the roof headliner assembly.

Refer to TIS, 2006 model year Scion tC Repair Manual, Vehicle Interior - Interior Panels/Trim - "Interior: Roof Headlining: Removal".

After removing the headliner, connect the battery and sliding roof control switch.

C. Remove the roof glass.

D. After removing the roof glass, disconnect the sliding roof control switch.

CAUTION:
Jam protection may NOT operate properly if the system has NOT been initialized. Be careful whenever performing work between the roof and the glass frame if the battery cable and sliding roof control switch are connected and the jam protection function has NOT been initialized.

5. Remove the No. 1 sliding roof glass sub-assembly.

A. Using a T25 Torx driver, remove the 2 screws.

B. Remove the 4 screws and the glass.

CAUTION:
When removing the panel, be careful NOT to damage the vehicle. Perform this step with two (2) or more people.

B. Add the one spot weld between the holes for the tightening bolt on both the RH and LH hinges.

C. Apply anti-rust treatment on the outside of the spot weld.

^ Clean the area around the spot weld and apply a rust preventative paint to prevent corrosion.

^ This area is NOT visible when the trim is reinstalled, so finish painting is not required.
