Customers may experience various squeaks or rattles. Please use the field fixes shown to improve the conditions listed below.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2004 model year Scion xA vehicles.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure 1

Buzz Noise From Side Register





1. Turn the side register downward.





2. Add a felt piece to the felt that is currently present on the bottom of the register opening as shown.

Felt Size:

Length: 15.0 mm

Width: 30.0 mm

Thickness: 1.0 mm

NOTE:
If register doesn't move smoothly after applying felt, please remove applied felt and fit thinner one.

Repair Procedure 2

Rattle Noise From Rear Bumper





1. Remove the rear bumper installation clips.





2. Fit two pieces of EPT sealer to the installation holes of the rear bumper as shown.

EPT Size:

Length: 15.0 mm

Width: 5.0 mm

Thickness: 5.0 mm

3. Reinstall the rear bumper installation clips.

Repair Procedure 3

Rattle Noise From Rear Seat Back

1. Remove the deck board No. 1, deck floor box RH and spare wheel cover.





2. Loosen the bolts of the rear seat back as shown.





3. Keep pushing the rear seat towards the outside of the vehicle (red arrows in the illustration show the proper direction). Re-tighten the bolts as shown.

Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft-lbf)
