Security System - Cannot Be Armed

ACCESSORIES
AX006-03

December 3, 2003

Title
SECURITY PASSIVE ARMING MODE

Models
'00 - '04 ECHO & '04 Scion xA

Introduction

For some Toyota ECHO and Scion xA vehicles, the accessory security system's passive arming feature cannot be activated by the users.

In order to activate the passive arming mode of the accessory security system the security ECU must detect input signals from the vehicle's door lock position switches in both the driver's and front passenger's doors. However, the existing security wire harnesses in these vehicles are connected to only the driver's door lock position switch. Without receiving any signal from the front passenger's door lock position switch, the security ECU does not permit activation of passive arming mode.

For countermeasure, an add-on wire connection is required between the security ECU and the vehicle's door lock position switch circuit for the passenger's door signal.

A harness upgrade kit with the add-on wire is now available to upgrade the existing security wire harnesses in the vehicles for passive arming mode activation.

Production security kits under new part numbers will have the add-on wire for passive arming function fully incorporated into the alarm wire harness starting from October 2003.

Applicable Vehicles
