Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note: The brake pads must be removed to remove the brake discs of the rear wheel brake. When replacing the brake discs, the brake pads must also be replaced. Always replace both brake discs on one axle.
1. Remove the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement (Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement) and Rear Disc Brake Pad Attachment Replacement (Rear Disc Brake Pad Attachment Replacement).
3. Remove the brake carrier (2) from brake backing plate.
Remove the 2 bolts.
4. Remove the brake disc from wheel hub.
Remove the locking bolt (1).
5. Clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc and the wheel hub.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
1. Install the brake disc to the wheel hub with the detent screw (1).
Tighten the detent screw to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
Note: Clean the thread and insert the bolts with locking compound.
2. Install the brake carrier (2) to brake carrier plate.
Tighten the brake carrier to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).
3. Install the brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement (Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement) and Rear Disc Brake Pad Attachment Replacement (Rear Disc Brake Pad Attachment Replacement).
4. Install the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
5. Actuate the brake pedal repeatedly.
6. Top up the brake fluid to the MAX mark. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling (Procedures).
7. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (Adjustments).
