Removal Procedure






Important: Central release and release bearing are one part. Overhauling is not required. If damaged or leaky, replace entire central release.


1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Transmission Only) (Transmission Replacement (Transmission Only))Transmission Replacement (Engine and Transmission) (Transmission Replacement (Engine and Transmission)) .
2. Remove the pressure line (1).
Remove the union nut.
3. Remove the central release.
Remove the 3 bolts (arrow).





Important: Replace damaged components.


4. Inspect the seal ring (1) on the central release for damage.



Installation Procedure





1. Clean the 3 threads (1) in the transmission.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .


Important: It is essential to avoid pulling the central release at an angle.


2. Install the central release (1).


Important: Check the seal ring (arrow) for damage.


* Attach the assembly aid (3) to the drive shaft (2) with KM-6157 .
* Lightly coat the seal ring in the central release with transmission fluid.

Important: Use new bolts.


* Install the 3 bolts evenly in contact with the flange.

Tighten the 3 bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).






3. Install the pressure line (1).

Tighten the retaining nut to 14 N.m (124 lb in).

4. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (Transmission Only) (Transmission Replacement (Transmission Only))Transmission Replacement (Engine and Transmission) (Transmission Replacement (Engine and Transmission)) .
