Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement
Tools Required
J 44827 Transmission Cooler Quick Disconnect
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front closeout panel.
3. Using J 44827 release the transmission cooler lines at the radiator.
4. Remove the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) from the radiator.
5. Remove the bolt (1) securing the transmission fluid cooler lines retainer (2) to the transmission.
6. Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipes from the transmission, and position aside.
7. Remove and discard the O-rings.
8. Remove the push pin retainer from the pipe assembly from the left engine support.
9. Remove the push pin from the pipe assembly to the left engine support.
Important: Note the routing of the transmission fluid cooler pipes to ensure proper installation.
10. Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipe assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the fluid cooler pipe assembly to the vehicle.
2. Install the transmission fluid cooler pipe push pin to the left engine support.
3. Install the transmission fluid cooler pipe push pin to the left engine support.
4. Connect the transmission fluid cooler pipes to the transmission fluid cooler at the radiator using the following steps:
1. Push the transmission fluid cooler pipes (1) into the quick connect fitting, until a "click" is heard.
2. Tug gently on the transmission cooler pipes (1) to ensure proper retention.
5. Install new O-ring seals over the transmission fluid cooler pipes.
6. Insert the transmission fluid cooler pipes into the transmission.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
7. Install the bolt (1) securing the transmission fluid cooler pipe retainer (2) to the transmission.
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
8. Install the front closeout panel.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Inspect the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking.
11. Inspect for fluid leaks.
