DTC B3265 06
- Trunk Relay Output Short to Ground or Open
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
When the rear compartment lid release switch is operated, the rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is switched to ground. The BCM receives the rear compartment lid release switch input and applies ground to the trunk release relay control circuit. This energizes the trunk release relay coil, closing the switch side contacts, allowing battery voltage to be applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator and folding top cover actuator, releasing the buttresses and opening the rear compartment lid. Ground for the rear compartment lid release switch is provided at G300. The rear compartment lid ajar switch, rear compartment lid release actuator, and folding top cover actuator are provided ground at G301. For more detailed information concerning rear compartment lid release refer to Luggage Compartment Description and Operation.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC B3265 01
This DTC will set when the BCM detects a short to voltage in the trunk release relay control circuit for 5 seconds or greater.
DTC B3265 06
This DTC will set when the BCM detects a short to ground or open in the trunk release relay control circuit for 5 seconds or greater.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
When DTC B3265 is set as current, the BCM will disable the trunk release relay control circuit driver.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.
* A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the trunk release relay.
2. Connect a test lamp between the relay coil B+ circuit and the relay coil control circuit.
3. Command the trunk release ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the trunk release relay.
