Latch Replacement - Front Door
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
3. Pull back the upper weatherstrip from the rear of the window. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Window (Door Window Weatherstrip).
4. Remove the lower rear window run channel. Refer to Window Run Channel Replacement - Front Door (Door Window Channel).
5. Remove the manual lock rod.
6. Remove the inside door handle with the actuator rod from the latch mechanism.
7. Use a permanent marker to mark the lock cylinder rod to latch mechanism relationship for correct reinstallation.
8. Remove the latch/lock mechanism from the door.
9. Slide the lock rod off the lock cylinder arm.
10. Remove the power door lock electrical connector and the 2 actuator rods from the latch mechanism.
11. Remove the screws from the latch.
12. Remove the latch with the lock rod from the door.
13. Remove the lock rod from the latch mechanism.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the latch mechanism to the door.
2. Install the lock rod to the lock cylinder.
3. Install the power door lock electrical connector to the latch mechanism.
4. Install the actuator rod from the outside door handle to the latch mechanism.
5. Install the lock cylinder rod to the latch mechanism.
6. Install the screws latch mechanism.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
7. Tighten the top screw first, the bottom screw second, and the middle screw last.
Tighten the screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
8. Install the manual lock rod.
9. Install the lower rear window run channel. Refer to Window Run Channel Replacement - Front Door (Door Window Channel).
10. Install the weatherstrips around the upper door rear frame. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Front Door Window (Door Window Weatherstrip).
11. Install the front door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
12. Install the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair).
13. Inspect the door for proper operation
