Differential Bearing Retainer O-Ring Replacement
Removal Procedure





1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the left wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove the left wheel driveshaft.





4. Important: Do not damage machined surfaces of the bearing retainer and transaxle case when removing the retainer.

Remove the differential bearing retainer fasteners and carefully remove the retainer.
5. Remove the O-ring from the differential bearing retainer.

Installation Procedure





1. Important: Make sure the differential bearing shims are in the case bore prior to installing the differential bearing retainer.

Clean the seal bore in the transaxle case.
2. Install the new O-ring on the differential bearing retainer. Lubricate the O-ring with transaxle lubricant and install the bearing retainer.

3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the differential bearing retainer fasteners.
Tighten the differential bearing retainer-to-transaxle bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the left wheel drive shaft.





5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
