SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 8 (SEDAN)
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Locate the body control module (BCM) fuse center then remove the fuse center cover.
5. Locate and remove the AIR BAG fuse from the BCM fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
6. Remove the garnish molding from the right upper lock pillar.
7. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the right roof rail module connector.
8. Disconnect the right roof rail module connector from the vehicle harness connector.
9. Remove the lower right center pillar trim.
10. Remove the CPA from right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
11. Disconnect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector from the right seat belt retractor pretensioner.
12. Remove the CPA from the right side impact sensor (SIS) connector.
13. Disconnect the SIS harness connector from the right SIS.
14. Remove the passenger/right outer trim cover from the instrument panel (I/P) (3).
15. Remove the CPA from the I/P connector (1).
16. Disconnect the I/P connector (1) from the vehicle harness connector (2).
17. Remove the driver/left outer trim cover from the I/P.
18. Remove the CPA from the steering wheel module coil connector.
19. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil connector from the vehicle harness connector.
20. Remove the lower left center pillar trim.
21. Remove the CPA from left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
22. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner connector from the left seat belt retractor pretensioner.
23. Remove the CPA from the left SIS connector.
24. Disconnect the SIS harness connector from the left SIS.
25. Remove the garnish molding from the left upper lock pillar.
26. Remove the CPA from the left roof rail module connector.
27. Disconnect the left roof rail module connector from the vehicle harness connector.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the left roof rail module connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
3. Install the CPA to the roof rail module connector.
4. Install garnish molding to the left upper lock pillar.
5. Connect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector into the left seat belt retractor pretensioner.
6. Install the CPA into the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
7. Connect the SIS connector to the left SIS.
8. Install the CPA to the SIS connector.
9. Install the lower trim panel to the left center pillar.
10. Connect the steering wheel module coil connector to the vehicle harness connector.
11. Install the CPA to the steering wheel module coil connector.
12. Install the driver/left outer trim cover to the I/P.
13. Connect the I/P connector (1) to the vehicle harness connector (2).
14. Install the CPA to the I/P connector (1).
15. Install the passenger/right outer trim cover to the I/P (3).
16. Connect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector into the right seat belt retractor pretensioner.
17. Install the CPA into the right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
18. Connect the SIS connector to the right SIS.
19. Install the CPA to the right SIS connector.
20. Install the lower trim panel to the right center pillar.
21. Connect the right roof rail module connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
22. Install the CPA to the right roof rail module connector.
23. Install garnish molding to the right upper lock pillar.
24. Install the AIR BAG fuse into the BCM fuse center.
25. Install the BCM fuse center cover.
26. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
27. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
