SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 8 (COUPE)
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Locate the body control module (BCM) fuse center then remove the fuse center cover.
5. Locate and remove the AIR BAG fuse from the BCM fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
6. Remove the garnish molding from the right upper lock pillar.
7. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the right roof rail module connector.
8. Disconnect the right roof rail module connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
9. Remove the CPA from the right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
10. Disconnect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector from the right seat belt retractor pretensioner.
11. Remove the right door trim panel.
12. Peel back the door water deflector far enough to expose the right side impact sensor (SIS).
13. Remove the CPA from the SIS connector.
14. Disconnect the SIS connector from the right SIS.
15. Remove the passenger/right outer trim cover from the instrument panel (I/P) (3).
16. Remove the CPA from the I/P connector (1).
17. Disconnect the I/P connector (1) from the vehicle harness connector (2).
18. Remove the driver/left outer trim cover from the I/P.
19. Remove the CPA from the steering wheel module coil connector.
20. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil connector from the vehicle harness connector.
21. Remove the left door trim panel.
22. Peel back the door water deflector far enough to expose the left SIS.
23. Remove the CPA from the SIS connector.
24. Disconnect the SIS connector from the left SIS.
25. Remove the garnish molding from the left upper lock pillar.
26. Remove the CPA from the left roof rail module connector.
27. Disconnect the left roof rail module connector from the vehicle harness connector.
28. Lower the headliner to access the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector. Refer to Headliner Replacement (w/ Sunroof) Headliner Replacement (w/o Sunroof) in Interior Trim.
29. Remove the CPA from the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
30. Disconnect the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
3. Install the CPA into the left seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
4. Install the headliner.
5. Connect the left roof rail module connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
6. Install the CPA to the left roof rail module connector.
7. Install garnish molding to the left upper lock pillar.
8. Connect the SIS connector to the left SIS.
9. Install the CPA to the left SIS connector.
10. Reinstall door water deflector.
11. Install the left door trim panel.
12. Connect the steering wheel module coil connector to the vehicle harness connector.
13. Install the CPA to the steering wheel module coil connector.
14. Install the driver/left outer trim cover to the I/P.
15. Connect the right roof rail module connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
16. Install the CPA to the right roof rail module connector.
17. Install garnish molding to the right upper lock pillar.
18. Connect the right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
19. Install the CPA into the right seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
20. Install the headliner.
21. Connect the right SIS connector to the SIS.
22. Install the CPA to the SIS connector.
23. Reinstall door water deflector.
24. Install the right door trim panel.
25. Connect the I/P connector (1) to the vehicle harness connector (2).
26. Install the CPA to the I/P connector (1).
27. Install the passenger/right outer trim cover to the I/P (3).
28. Install the AIR BAG fuse into the BCM fuse center.
29. Install the BCM fuse center cover.
30. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
31. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
