SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 6 (COUPE)
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Locate the body control module (BCM) fuse center, then remove the fuse center cover.
5. Locate and remove the AIR BAG fuse from the BCM fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
6. When disabling the passenger/right roof rail module go to step 7, if the right side impact sensor (SIS) needs disabling then go to step 10. To disable the right seat belt retractor pretensioner go to step 14.
7. Remove the garnish molding from the upper lock pillar.
8. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the roof rail module connector.
9. Disconnect the roof rail module connector from the vehicle harness connector.
10. Remove the door trim panel.
11. Peel back the door water deflector far enough to expose the SIS.
12. Remove the CPA from the SIS connector.
13. Disconnect the SIS connector from the SIS.
14. Lower the headliner to access the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector. Refer to Headliner Replacement (w/ Sunroof) Headliner Replacement (w/o Sunroof) in Interior Trim.
15. Remove the CPA from the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
16. Disconnect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. To enable the passenger/right seat belt retractor pretensioner go to step 3, if the right SIS needs enabling go to step 6. To enable the right roof rail module go to step 10.
3. Connect the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
4. Install the CPA into the seat belt retractor pretensioner connector.
5. Install the headliner.
6. Connect the SIS connector to the SIS.
7. Install the CPA to the SIS connector.
8. Reinstall door water deflector.
9. Install the door trim panel.
10. Connect the roof rail module connector into the vehicle harness yellow connector.
11. Install the CPA to the roof rail module connector.
12. Install garnish molding to the upper lock pillar.
13. Install the AIR BAG fuse into the BCM fuse center.
14. Install the BCM fuse center cover.
15. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
16. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
