Variable Induction Control Solenoid: Service and Repair

INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL SOLENOID REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the intake manifold runner control solenoid (IMRC) harness connector.
3. Remove the IMRC solenoid attachment screws.
4. Remove both vacuum lines from the IMRC solenoid and remove the IMRC solenoid.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The vacuum line that goes to the diaphragm is attached to the solenoid vacuum port that faces parallel to the ground.




1. Reconnect both the vacuum lines to the IMRC solenoid noting that the vacuum line to the diaphragm attaches to the vacuum port that faces parallel to the ground.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the IMRC solenoid and the IMRC solenoid attachment screw to the intake manifold.

Tighten the intake manifold runner control solenoid to the intake manifold screw to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

3. Connect the IMRC solenoid harness connector. Push the connector in until the lock position is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
