DTC B1015

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) stores the first received vehicle identification number (VIN) from the body control module (BCM) when the ignition is turned on for the first time. The BCM sends the VIN information via a class 2 message to the IPC. If the received BCM VIN and the stored IPC VIN do not match, this DTC sets.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
- The ignition is ON.
- The ignition voltage is between 6.0-18.0 volts.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The IPC detects that the stored VIN information and the sent VIN information from the BCM do not match.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- The Service Vehicle Soon telltale is illuminated.
- The IPC displays the failure information in the Failure Records on the scan tool.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
- The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction free warm-up cycles.
- The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
- The IPC receives the clear code command from the scan tool.
