C0236-TCS RPM SIGNAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION









The PCM/ECM provides the EBTCM with engine RPM data so that it can determine traction control operation.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC C0236 will set if the following conditions exist:
^ Circuit 121 is open or shorted.
^ The EBTCM does not receive a RPM signal one second after engine has been started.

When DTC C0236 sets:
^ Traction control will be disabled.
^ The traction Off indicator turns ON.
^ The ABS remains functional.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Possible causes for DTC C0236 to set:
^ Open in circuit 121.
^ Circuit 121 is shorted to ground or voltage.
^ Improper connection, terminal corrosion, backed-out terminals, or damaged wire insulation.
^ EBTCM not receiving signal from PCM/ECM.
