Ventilation Housing Replacement

VENTILATION HOUSING REPLACEMENT (IN-VEHICLE)

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove intake hose assembly.





3. Remove bank 1 (rear) intake runner.





4. Disconnect throttle body electrical connection.





5. Disconnect electrical connection and remove vacuum hoses from intake plenum switch-over valve solenoid.
6. Remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.





7. Remove front intake plenum-to-runner hose clamp and plenum bolts. Remove EGR manifold bolts.
8. Lift plenum and remove throttle body heater hoses.

NOTICE: Mask off all ports to the intake manifold. Severe damage may result if foreign objects enter the engine.

9. Remove intake plenum.





10. Disconnect rear coil connection.
11. Disconnect oil separator hose, vacuum line and remove coolant line bracket from crankcase vent housing.
12. Remove crankcase vent housing flange bolts and remove housing.

NOTICE: To ensure positive sealing of flange sealant, thoroughly clean all mating surfaces.

13. Clean ventilation housing and sealing flange on engine block.

IMPORTANT: Located within the ventilation housing is a one-way reed valve. The reed valve maintains a positive crankcase pressure.

14. Inspect rubber reed valve for cracks and proper function. Replace reed valve if defective.

INSTALLATION





1. Apply sealing compound Loctite- 518 (or equivalent) to sealing surfaces.
2. Install ventilation housing to engine block.
3. Install ventilation housing bolts.
Torque:
Ventilation Housing Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
4. Connect oil separator hose, vacuum line and re-install coolant line bracket to vent housing.
5. Connect rear coil electrical connection.





6. Remove tape from intake ports and install intake plenum into front intake runner.
7. Lift intake plenum and install throttle body heater hoses to underside of throttle body.
8. Lower intake plenum and install plenum and EGR manifold bolts.
Torque:
Intake Plenum Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
Torque:
EGR Pipe Bolt: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)





9. Install fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
10. Connect intake plenum switch-over valve solenoid electrical connection and vacuum hoses.





11. Connect throttle body electrical connection.





12. Install bank 1 (rear) intake runner.





13. Install intake hose assembly.
14. Connect negative battery cable.
Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
