Front Door Hinge: Service and Repair

Front Side Door Upper Hinge and Lower Hinge Replacement (Bolt On)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the front door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Front - Bolt On () removal procedure.




2. Remove the front door insulator. Refer to Front Side Door Insulator (Front Side Door Insulator) removal procedure.




3. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors.
4. Disengage the wiring harness grommet from the door structure and remove the wiring harness from the door.




5. Remove the check link-to-body bolt.




6. Support the door.
7. Remove the nuts and reinforcement plates from the door structure.
8. Remove the door from the vehicle.




9. Using a soft marker, mark around the hinge location for installation alignment purposes.
10. Remove the hinge to hinge pillar bolts.
11. Remove the hinge from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the hinge to the vehicle.
2. Align the hinge with the marks made prior to removal.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the hinge to hinge pillar bolt.

Tighten the door hinge-to-hinge pillar bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).




4. Install the door to hinge studs.
5. Install the reinforcement plates and nuts to the studs.

Tighten the door and reinforcement plate-to-hinge nuts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).




6. Install the check link-to-body structure bolt.

Tighten the door check link-to-body bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




7. Install the wiring harness grommet to the door.
8. Connect the wiring harness connectors.




9. Verify the door is aligned properly at the header, the front A-pillar, and the rear appliques. If the door adjustment is required, refer to Front Side Door Adjustment (Bolt On) (Adjustments) procedure.




10. Install the front door insulator. Refer to Front Side Door Insulator (Front Side Door Insulator) installation procedure.




11. Install the front door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Front - Bolt On () installation procedure.
12. Verify the door is aligned properly. Refer to Front Side Door Insulator (Front Side Door Insulator).
