Windshield Washer Hose: Testing and Inspection

DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR
1. Open hood.
2. If leak or obstruction is suspected, attempt to visually inspect washer system to determine problem.
3. Inspect windshield washer bottle for adequate fluid level, contamination, or freezing.
4. Remove hose from pump and verify fluid flow when washer system is operated.
5. If no flow is found, check to see if windshield washer pump operates by feeling pump for vibration when system is operated.
6. If vibration is present but no flow, replace windshield washer pump. Refer to "Windshield Washer Pump Removal" procedure.
7. If no vibration is present, refer to "Electrical Diagnosis Windshield Washer Pump".




8. If sufficient flow is present, go to the next step.




9. If leakage or blockage is not found, remove grommet and hose from passenger side connection at liftgate.
10. Using a low pressure air supply (5 psi or less), carefully blow through hose at liftgate to washer nozzle connection.
11. If insufficient flow is found, remove nozzle and blow through hose only.
12. If leak or blockage exists, replace rear hose. (Refer to "Windshield Washer Hose Rear-Wagon Replacement" procedure.
13. If no blockage exists, blow through nozzle from outlet (small end) towards inlet (large end).
14. Reconnect washer nozzle to washer hose and retest.
15. If blockage still exists, replace nozzle. Refer to "Windshield Washer Rear Nozzle Replacement" procedure.
16. If blockage was not found in rear hose or nozzle, check for leakage or blockage in front and center washer hose.
17. Disconnect front washer hose for rear washer system at windshield washer pump.
18. Use a low pressure air supply (5 psi or less) and blow through hose at liftgate hose and have an assistant check for sufficient air flow out of front windshield washer hose.
19. If flow is insufficient, remove windshield pillar trim. Refer to "Windshield Pillar Trim Removal" procedure and disconnect hose at windshield pillar.
20. Using a low pressure air supply (5 psi 9r less), blow through hose at windshield pillar to pump.
21. If leak or blockage exists, replace front washer hose. Refer to "Rear Washer System-Front Hose Replacement" procedure.
22. If leakage or blockage was not found in front or rear washer hose, remove headliner and inspect for leakage or blockage in center washer hose.




23. If leakage or blockage is found, refer to "Rear Windshield Washer Hose Center-Wagon Replacement" procedure.
