Transaxle Oil Cooler Line Seals

TRANSAXLE OIL COOLER LINE SEALS

- TOOLS REQUIRED
- J41239 Cooler Line Seal Remover/Installer

REMOVAL
1. Place drain pan or suitable container under vehicle.





2. Remove transaxle oil cooler line assembly from transaxle only. Position oil cooler line away from cooler line seals on transaxle.
3. Using a TORX(R) socket remove the oil cooler line assembly stud from the transaxle case.

IMPORTANT: Do not collapse the seal more than 3 mm (1/8 inch). The removal tool requires two undeformed opposing edges to work.





4. Use a long chisel with a 1/4" blade (or equivalent tool) to partially collapse the seal in one place only.





5. Clamp Cooler Line Seal Remover/Installer J41239 onto the transaxle cooler line seal on the outside of the case bore.
6. Remove transaxle oil cooler line seal by rotating and prying the transaxle cooler line seal out of the case with the attached tool.

INSTALLATION

NOTICE: Failure to lubricate the cooler line seals with DEXRON(R) III (P/N 21019223) automatic transaxle fluid before installing the cooler line assembly into the seals may cause damage to the seals.





1. Place a new transaxle cooler line seal in the case bore.

IMPORTANT: When installing new cooler line seals, it is important to have the installing plunge of the tool centered in the transaxle's bore. If the plunger is not centered, the seal may be installed improperly and a leak would occur.

2. Install the Cooler Line Seal Remover/Installer J41239 on the transaxle case at the cooler line bracket bolt hole.
3. Press new transaxle cooler line seal in by tightening the seal pressing bolt on the tool until the seal bottoms out in the case bore.
4. Install oil cooler line assembly stud into transaxle case using a TORSO socket.





5. Install transaxle cooler line assembly to transaxle.
Torque:
Transaxle Oil {Cooler Line Assembly Nut: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
6. Start engine and check for leaks.
7. Check for proper fluid level using the "Transaxle Fluid Level Checking Procedure".
