Seat Belt Guide Track: Service and Repair

FRONT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE

REMOVAL




1. Move front seat to forward position
2. Remove carpet retainer molding in area surrounding center pillar lower molding by pulling at attaching clip locations.




3. Using a trim tool, remove outside center pillar weatherstrip.

NOTE: Care must be taken not to drop fasteners in center pillar structure.




4. Remove shoulder belt height adjuster fasteners.

NOTE: Care must be taken not to drop fasteners in center pillar structure.




5. Remove shoulder belt retractor fastener access plug.
6. Remove shoulder belt retractor fastener.

On 2000 MY Vehicles Only

NOTE:
^ Upper and lower moldings will stay attached to each other while being removed.
^ Shoulder belt assembly and height adjuster unit will stay attached to the center pillar upper and lower moldings when the moldings are removed.




7. Starting at the top, gently pull on center pillar upper molding to disengage attaching clips.
8. Pull on center pill lower molding to disengage attaching clips.

On 2001 MY Vehicles Only

NOTE:
^ Upper and lower moldings will stay attached to each other while being removed.
^ Shoulder belt assembly and height adjuster unit will stay attached to the center pillar upper and lower moldings when the moldings are removed.




9. Starting at the top, gently pull on center pillar upper molding to disengage attaching clips.
10. Remove B-pillar molding plug and fastener.
11. Pull on center pill lower molding to disengage attaching clips.




12. Remove shoulder belt from shoulder belt retainer.




13. Remove safety belt guide fastener and remove guide.

INSTALLATION
1. Install safety belt guide with fastener.

Torque:
Safety Belt Guide Fasteners: 1.5 N.m (13 in-lbs)




2. Position shoulder belt behind shoulder belt retainer.

On 2000 MY Vehicles Only




3. Attach center pillar molding assemblies to vehicle by firmly pushing at clip locations.

On 2001 MY Vehicles Only




4. Attach center pillar molding assemblies to vehicle by firmly pushing at clip locations.
5. Install B-pillar molding fastener and plug.

Torque:
B-Pillar Molding Fastener: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)




6. Install retractor fastener.

Torque:
Retractor Fastener: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)

7. Install retractor plug.




8. Install height adjuster fasteners.

Torque:
Height Adjuster Fasteners: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)




9. Install center pillar outside weatherstrip.




10. Install carpet retainer by gently pushing at attaching clip locations.




11. Install weatherstrip over center pillar lower molding and rocker panel molding using a flat blade tool.
12. Function shoulder belt to ensure proper operation.
13. Place front seat in original position.
