Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid
The evaporative emission canister vent solenoid allows fresh outside air to enter the EVAP charcoal canister during purge modes. During the Enhanced Evaporative Diagnostic Test, the EVAP vent solenoid is closed to pull a vacuum on the fuel tank. This allows the ECM to evaluate pressure changes within the system by monitoring the fuel tank pressure sensor signal. This solenoid is normally open.
