Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT (IN-VEHICLE)

- TOOLS REQUIRED
- J35268A Camshaft Front Main Seal Installer

REMOVAL





1. Remove timing belt.
2. Remove crankshaft gear.
3. Carefully drill a small, shallow pilot hole into steel ring of seal. Use caution when drilling hole so as not to damage the area around and behind seal.
4. Screw in a self-taping screw.
5. Use pliers to pull out front main oil seal.
6. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION





1. Coat lip of front main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil to aid in installation.
2. Use Camshaft Front Main Seal Installer J35268A to install front main oil seal.
3. Ensure that front main oil seal is fully and evenly seated.
4. Install crankshaft gear.
5. Install timing belt.
