CAMSHAFT COVER REPLACEMENT-REAR
(IN-VEHICLE)

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove intake plenum.
3. Remove intake manifold.
4. Remove ignition module.
5. Remove knock sensor wire harness.





6. Remove lift bracket.
7. Remove camshaft cover bolts.
8. Remove camshaft cover.





9. Remove camshaft cover seals.

IMPORTANT: Ensure all eight sealing O-rings are accounted for. The O-rings may stick to the camshaft bearing caps or they may fall into the oil pan.

10. Clean camshaft cover.
11. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION





1. Lightly coat new seals, including O-rings, with engine 4 oil prior to installation to assist in holding O-ring seals to valve cover.





2. Install camshaft cover seals
3. Apply a thin coat of Loctite 5900 or equivalent at front and back of camshaft cover as shown in the figure as the shaded areas.





4. Install camshaft cover to the cylinder head.
5. Install camshaft cover bolts.
Torque:
Camshaft Cover Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
6. Install lift bracket.
Torque:
Engine Lift Bracket Bolts: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)





7. Install ignition module.
Torque:
Ignition Module Bolt: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
8. Install intake manifold.
9. Install intake plenum.
10. Connect negative battery cable.
11. Start engine and inspect for oil leaks.
