Park Brake Cable (Equalizer to Rear Corners)
PARK BRAKE CABLE (EQUALIZER TO REAR CORNERS)REMOVAL
1. Release park brake.
2. Remove park brake boot by squeezing boot on sides while pulling upwards.
3. Loosen park brake adjuster nut to provide ample slack in park brake cable.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.
4. Raise vehicle on hoist.
5. Disconnect exhaust resonator from exhaust manifold pipe.
6. Remove exhaust pipe-to-body insulators.
7. Lower exhaust resonator pipe and muffler assembly from vehicle.
8. Remove exhaust heat shield.
9. Disengage park brake cable from rear park brake cable and discard clips. New clips must be used whenever disconnected.
10. Disengage front park brake cable from equalizer.
11. Remove cable from body attachment points.
INSTALLATION
1. Attach park brake cable to body attaching points.
NOTICE: New clips must be used to attach park brake cable to rear park brake cable as retention of old clips is not sufficient.
2. Using new clips attach park brake cable to rear park brake cable.
3. Attach front park brake cable to equalizer.
4. Install exhaust heat shield and fasteners.
Torque: Exhaust Heat Shield-to-Body Fasteners: 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.)
5. Install exhaust system and tighten fasteners.
Torque: Resonator Pipe-to-Exhaust Manifold Pipe: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
6. Lower vehicle from hoist.
7. Adjust park brake cable.
