Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Ignition Off.
2. Remove air induction resonator.
3. Disconnect EI module harness connector.
4. Remove upper and lower EI module bolts and remove EI module.
5. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to remove spark plug wires from the coil tower by gently prying between the EI module and black CPA.
6. Remove ignition coil from EI module by rotating the coil in an upward direction.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Make sure electrical connectors are lined up before seating to avoid damage to electrical connectors.




1. Install ignition coil by placing ignition coil tab into EI module slot and rotating ignition coil until lower portion of ignition coil is seated on male electrical connectors.

NOTE: Ensure threads of bolts and threaded holes are clean and free of any residue.

2. Install spark plug wires and CPA to coil.
3. Install upper and lower EI module bolts.
4. Connect EI module harness connector. Push until a click is heard and pull back to ensure a positive engagement.
5. Install air induction resonator.
