Exhaust Pipe Replacement
Removal
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED PRIOR TO LIFTING. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. MAKE SURE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BRAKE LINES.
1. Raise vehicle squarely on a lift.
2. Loosen front exhaust pipe clamp (15 mm hex) at engine block bracket and slide clamp out of engagement with bracket.
3. Remove (3) front exhaust pipe nuts (13 mm hex) at exhaust manifold.
4. Remove (3) nuts (13 mm hex) at the outlet of the catalytic converter to intermediate pipe.
5. Disengage (2) rubber isolators from hanger rod on front exhaust pipe and remove pipe from vehicle.
Installation
1. Clean intermediate pipe-to-catalytic converter flange surface.
2. Install a new gasket on catalytic converter outlet.
3. Install catalytic converter to intermediate pipe with (3) nuts (13 mm hex).
Torque: 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.)
4. Install the (2) rubber isolators supporting the front exhaust pipe to the hanger rod on the pipe.
5. Install new exhaust pipe to manifold gasket on the studs.
6. Install exhaust pipe to manifold with (3) nuts (13 mm hex).
Torque: 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.)
7. Slide front exhaust pipe clamp over engine block bracket and tighten clamp (15 mm hex).
Torque: 60 Nm (44 inch lbs.)
8. Check exhaust system for leaks.
