P0730
The PCM uses the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor, Transaxle Input Speed Sensor (ISS) and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) to determine engine speed, input shaft speed and output shaft speed. These sensor readings are used to determine the current gear ratio and RPM Slip across the torque converter. The PCM uses this information from the sensors to determine if the commanded gear matches the actual gear. DTC P0730 sets when the PCM attempts to command an upshift to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, but the ISS signal does not change RPM to indicate a gear change for any of the commanded upshift gears. In this instance, most likely the vehicle will not move. This DTC is an indicator that all gears are probably being affected by the same condition.DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0730 will set if there is no transaxle ISS pulldown (change in RPM) after a commanded upshift to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear when:
- Vehicle speed = 0 mph
- Condition exists twice in one ignition cycle
- Vehicle is started from a stop
- DTCs P0716, P0717, P0727 are not active
DTC P0730 diagnostic runs continuously once the above conditions have been met.
DTC P0730 is a type A DTC.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If any transaxle range switch or pressure control solenoid DTCs are set, diagnose those DTCs first.
Verify all manual gears selected (PRNDL) read correctly on Scan tool.
Verify VSS and TRANSMISSION ISS read correctly on Scan tool.
Possible causes of DTC P0730:
- Manual valve disconnected.
- Transaxle range selector switch indicates a forward gear, but transaxle is hydraulically in neutral.
