Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments

TOOLS REQUIRED:
- J41545 Transaxle Range Switch Alignment Tool

ADJUSTMENT




1. Shift Transaxle into NEUTRAL position.
2. Remove shift control cable from transaxle range switch lever.




3. Remove transaxle range switch lever nut and lever.
4. Loosen transaxle range switch bolts.




5. Insert J41545 as shown and rotate switch until tool drops into position.
6. Tighten transaxle range switch bolts.

Torque: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs.)

7. Remove alignment tool.




8. Install transaxle range switch lever and nut.

Torque: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs.)

IMPORTANT: After adjusting the switch, verify that engine only starts in PARK or NEUTRAL. If engine starts in any other position, readjust switch.




9. Install shift control cable to transaxle range switch lever and verify proper operation.
