51. Channel Plate Assembly/Disassemble





IMPORTANT: The accumulator pins are pressed into channel plate. Do not remove accumulator pins.

1. Remove accumulator pistons from channel plate.

IMPORTANT: The 1-2 accumulator assist spring has a retainer that presses into the spring. Keep retainer and spring together as an assembly.

2. Remove 1-2 accumulator assist spring.
3. Remove 2-3 accumulator assist spring.
4. Remove seals from accumulator pistons.
5. Discard accumulator piston seals.
6. Remove manual valve from channel plate.





7. Inspect channel plate for damage.
8. Inspect channel plate passages for debris.
9. Inspect accumulator pistons, assist springs, and pins for damage.
10. Inspect channel plate sleeve for wear from turbine shaft.
11. Inspect channel plate bolt holes for stripped threads and debris.
12. Inspect channel plate machined surface for nicks or scratches that could cause a fluid leak.
13. Inspect manual valve for freedom of movement.
14. Inspect drive sprocket to channel plate thrust washer.
15. Clean and dry each component.
