Power Steering Pump Seal: Service and Repair

- TOOLS REQUIRED
- SA9218NE Pump Hub Puller
- SA9162C-2 Pulley Replacer

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: This procedure does not require disassembly of pump.





1. Remove pump from vehicle.
2. Remove pump pulley hub SA9218NE (or equivalent).
3. Protect drive shaft with shim stock.





4. Using a small chisel, pry drive shaft seal and remove from pump housing.

INSTALLATION





1. Lubricate new drive shaft seal with power steering fluid (GM Spec. 9985010). Install drive shaft seal into pump housing with suitably sized socket. Install pump pulley hub using SA9162C-2 (or equivalent).
4. Install pump in vehicle.
5. Bleed power steering system. (Refer to "Power Steering Bleed" procedure. Service and Repair
