Front Seat Shoulder Belt Assembly - Outer

1. Move front seat to forward most position.
2. Remove seat side cover by pulling firmly on cover.
3. Remove shoulder belt fastener and remove shoulder belt from seat track.




4. Partially remove carpet retainer enough to expose center pillar lower molding at carpet retainer.




5. Using a trim tool, remove center pillar outside weatherstrip.

NOTE: Care must be taken not to drop fasteners in center pillar structure.




6. Remove shoulder belt height adjuster fasteners.

NOTE: Care must be taken not to drop fasteners in center pillar structure.




7. Remove shoulder belt retractor fastener access plug.
8. Remove shoulder belt retractor fastener.

IMPORTANT: Upper and lower moldings will stay attached to each other while being removed.




9. Starting at the top, gently pull on center pillar upper molding to disengage attaching clips.

IMPORTANT: Shoulder belt assembly and height adjuster unit will stay attached to the center pillar upper and lower moldings when the moldings are removed.

10. Pull on center pillar lower molding to disengage attaching clips.




11. Remove shoulder belt from shoulder belt guide.




12. Remove upper and lower center pillar molding assembly and place assembly on bench.
13. Remove retractor from lower molding by pulling on retractor.




14. Move height adjuster to lowest position.
15. While holding the center pillar upper molding, pull on shoulder belt height adjuster to disengage attaching clip.




16. Pull on shoulder belt height adjuster to disengage adjuster pin from height adjuster.




17. Using a flat blade screwdriver, unlock center pillar upper molding hinge.




18. Route shoulder belt through center pillar upper molding opening and remove shoulder belt from center pillar upper molding.

NOTE: If height adjuster is placed in holding fixture, care must be taken not to damage height adjuster.




19. While holding height adjuster, remove shoulder belt fastener from height adjuster and remove height adjuster.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: USE LOCTITE(R)242 THREADLOCKER (OR EQUIVALENT) ON ALL RESTRAINT FASTENERS WHEN INSTALLING THEM.

1. Install shoulder belt washer between height adjuster and shoulder belt D-ring.

CAUTION: CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO ENSURE D-RING IS PROPERLY INSTALLED OVER HEIGHT ADJUSTER SHAFT TO AVOID DAMAGE TO SHOULDER BELT SYSTEM.

2. Position D-ring onto height adjuster shaft and tighten fastener.

Torque: 29 N.m (21 ft-lbs)




3. Feed shoulder belt through center pillar upper molding opening ensuring latch plate has been routed through opening.
4. Position shoulder belt behind center pillar hinged retainer. Snap retainer closed.




5. Align height adjuster upper retainer pins to slider assembly and snap into place.




6. Align height adjuster lower hole to hinged retainer clip and snap adjuster into place.
7. Attach lower molding to upper molding.




8. Snap retractor into lower molding retainer.

IMPORTANT: Make sure center pillar lower molding is placed behind the carpet retainer.




9. Position center pillar upper and lower molding to vehicle aligning shoulder belt retractor stud at center pillar structure hole.




10. Position shoulder belt behind shoulder belt guide.




11. Attach center pillar upper and lower molding to vehicle by firmly pushing at clip locations.




12. Install retractor fastener.

Torque: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)

13. Install retractor fastener plug.




14. Install height adjuster fasteners.

Torque: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)




15. Install center pillar outside weatherstrip.




16. Install carpet retainer.




17. Position weatherstrips over center pillar moldings and carpet retainer.




18. Install shoulder belt to seat track with fastener.

Torque: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)

IMPORTANT: On manual seat recliner, position shoulder belt behind seat recliner handle.

19. Install seat belt outer trim cover.
20. Function shoulder belt and height adjuster to ensure proper operation.
21. Put seat back in original position.
