Seat Belt Buckle: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Move front seat to forward most position.
2. Remove outer shoulder belt seat cover by pulling on cover.
3. Remove shoulder belt fastener and remove shoulder belt from seat track.




4. Remove front seat rear anchoring bolts.
5. Pull seat assembly rearward to disengage front seat tracks from front seat track hooks.
6. Tilt seat rearward and disconnect wiring harness from seat connector by pushing on connector paddle.
7. Remove seat from vehicle and place upside down in a clean working area.




8. Remove seat belt buckle connector from connector housing.




9. Cut straps attaching seat belt buckle wiring harness to seat frame.
10. Remove front seat belt buckle fastener and remove buckle.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: USE LOCTITE(R)242 THREADLOCKER (OR EQUIVALENT) ON ALL RESTRAINT FASTENERS WHEN INSTALLING THEM.

1. Install front seat belt buckle and fastener to seat frame.

Torque: 35 N.m (26 ft-lbs)




2. Route seat belt buckle wire through hole in seat frame and along seat frame beam. Insert connector into connector housing.
3. Strap seat belt buckle wire to seat frame.
4. Position seat in vehicle then tilt seat rearward and plug wiring harnesses into wire harness connector.




5. Position front seat slightly rearward of front seat track hooks.
6. Push seat forward to engage seat tracks into hooks.
7. Install front seat rear anchoring bolts.

Torque: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)




8. Install outer shoulder belt to seat track making sure anti-rotation tab is properly aligned into slot.

Torque: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)

9. Install outer shoulder belt seat cover.
10. If equipped, function power seat and shoulder belt to ensure proper operation.
