EVAP Vent Solenoid

REMOVAL
The EVAP canister vent solenoid is located on the upper-end of the fuel filler pipe inside the right-rear wheel opening.




1. Position on hoist.
2. Raise vehicle to a comfortable working position.
3. Remove passenger side rear wheelhouse panel liner.
4. Disconnect wiring harness from [1][2]EVAP vent solenoid.
5. Slide spring clamp nearest vent solenoid down on molded hose.




6. Disengage locking tabs from shield of [1][2]EVAP vent solenoid box.
7. Remove shield on [1][2]EVAP vent solenoid box and slide down molded hose.
8. Remove vent solenoid from box and vent pipe from vehicle.
9. Disconnect vent solenoid from molded rubber hose.

INSTALLATION
1. Install EVAP canister vent solenoid to box on filler pipe.

NOTE: Ensure that vent solenoid "clicks" into engagement with locking tab on box.

IMPORTANT: The lid or shield for the EVAP canister vent solenoid must always be installed. The lid and the solenoid box shield the vent solenoid from water and contaminants. This allows the vent solenoid to function properly.

2. Install shield on [1][2]EVAP vent solenoid box.

NOTE: Ensure that vent pipe is properly positioned in retainer on fuel filler pipe lower attachment.




3. Install vent pipe and molded hose to quick connect on canister vent hose.
4. Install vent pipe hose to vent solenoid and secure with clamp.
5. Perform the "Service Bay Diagnostic Test" for the evaporative emission system using the Scan tool. This test will verify the integrity of the vapor handling areas of the fuel system.
