Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Remove lower I/P hush panel.




2. Disconnect accelerator pedal position sensor electrical connector.




3. Depress accelerator pedal and remove upper bracket-to-front of dash attachment nut.
4. Remove remaining accelerator pedal bracket-to-front of dash attachment nuts.
5. Remove pedal assembly from vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the linkage arm from pedal position sensor because it will be difficult to orient the arm in the same position. Accelerator pedal travel will be affected.




6. Remove retainer and disconnect linkage from accelerator pedal position sensor.




7. Remove pedal position sensor to bracket attachment fasteners.
8. Remove pedal position sensor.

INSTALLATION




1. Position pedal position sensor in bracket and install bolts.

Torque: 6 N.m (53 in-lbs)




2. Connect position sensor to accelerator pedal linkage.

IMPORTANT: Do not tighten fasteners at this time.




3. Position pedal assembly in vehicle and install two lower pedal-to-front of dash attachment nuts.
4. Depress accelerator pedal and install upper pedal bracket-to-front of dash attachment nut.
5. Tighten nuts.

Torque: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)




6. Connect accelerator position sensor electrical.




7. Install I/P hush panel.
