Cigarette Lighter: Service and Repair

NOTE: The following procedures are for both the cigar lighter and auxiliary power outlets. Instructions pertaining to the auxiliary power outlet will be in parenthesis ( ) behind the cigar lighter instructions.

REMOVAL




1. Remove 2O Amp. lighter fuse (auxiliary fuse) located in the underhood fuse block.
2. Obtain service tool J42059 (cigar lighter/auxiliary power removal tool).




3. Remove cigar lighter element (lift tether cap).




4. Locate two square holes in receptacle.





5. Hold removal tool at a 30 degree angle as you insert it into the receptacle.




6. Position one side of the removal tool in one hole then the other hole.
7. Pull receptacle straight out.
8. Disconnect connector.

INSTALLATION




1. Reconnect connector.
2. Push illumination ring and receptacle (tether cap and receptacle) assembly back into console.




3. Insert cigar lighter element (put tether cap back into receptacle).
4. Install lighter fuse (auxiliary fuse).
