Timing Belt Cover Replacement - Rear

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove front timing belt cover. Refer to "Timing Belt Cover Replacement".
4. Remove timing belt. Refer to "Timing Belt Replacement".
5. As a precaution, rotate crankshaft counterclockwise to 60 degrees BTDC position to prevent valve/piston contact.
6. Remove camshaft gears. Use J-42069-1 and J-42069-2 camshaft locks to lock gears when initially loosening camshaft bear bolts.
7. Remove timing belt tensioner bracket bolts.
8. Remove timing belt tensioner bracket.
9. Remove timing belt idler pulley bolt for camshaft 3 and 4.
10. Remove timing belt idler pulley for camshaft 3 and 4.
11. Remove rear timing belt cover bolts.
12. Remove rear timing belt threaded pin.
13. Remove rear timing belt cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Install rear timing belt lever.
2. Coat threaded pin with Threadlocker Loctite (R) 242 compound or equivalent.
3. Install rear timing belt cover bolts.
- Torque: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
4. Install rear timing belt threaded pin.
- Torque: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
IMPORTANT: Tighten timing belt idler pulley bolt until snug. After the final timing belt adjustment are made, the bolt will be tightened to specifications.
5. Install timing belt idler pulley for camshafts 3 and 4.
6. Install timing belt tensioner bracket.
7. Install timing belt tensioner bracket bolts.
- Torque: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
8. Install camshaft gears and new bolts. Use J-42069-1 and J-42069-2 camshaft locks to lock gears when torquing camshaft gear bolts.
- Torque: 50 Nm + 60° + 15° (30 ft. lbs. + 60° + 15°)
9. Install and adjust timing belt. Refer to "Timing Belt Replacement".
10. Install front timing belt cover.
11. Install front timing belt cover bolts.
- Torque: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
12. Install intake air resonator.
13. Reconnect negative battery cable.
