14. Camshaft Drive Sprocket Removal
- Tools Required
- J-42065 Crank Hub Holding Tool
- J-42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket
REMOVAL
IMPORTANT: Some lobes on the camshafts may be under load from the lifters. Rotate camshafts carefully until camshafts are no longer under a load if applicable.
1. Install J-42069-1 Camshaft Locking Tool between camshaft gear 1 and 2 to hold camshaft gears in place while removing bolt.
2. Install J-42069-2 Camshaft Locking Tool between camshaft gear 3 and 4 to hold camshaft gears in place while removing bolt.
3. Remove camshaft gear bolts and discard.
4. Remove camshaft gear washers.
5. Remove camshaft gears.
6. Remove J 42069 camshaft locking tool. Rotate crank 60° BTDC to ensure that valves do not contact pistons.
7. Install J-42065 crank hub holding tool and remove crank hub tore using J-42098 crank hub tore socket.
8. Remove crankshaft drive gear bolt and discard.
9. Remove drive gear.
