Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair


- Tool Required
- J-42067 Rear Main Oil Sealer Installer

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the flexplate.





3. Center punch the steel ring of the rear main oil seal.
4. Carefully drill a small, shallow pilot hole into steel ring of the rear main oil seal. Use caution when drilling the hole so as not to damage the engine components on the opposite side of the rear main oil seal.
5. Screw in a self-tapping screw.
6. Use pliers to pull out rear main oil seal.
7. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION





1. Coat lip of rear main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil.
2. Use J-42067 to install rear main oil scat.
3. Install flexplate.
4. Reconnect negative battery cable.
