Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement


- Tool Required
- J-35268-A Camshaft/Front Main Seal Installer
- J-42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket

REMOVAL





1. Remove timing belt. Refer to "Timing Belt Replacement".
2. Remove crankshaft gear. Refer to "Crankshaft Gear Removal".
3. Carefully drill a small, shallow, pilot hole into steel ring of seal. Use caution when drilling hole so as not to damage the area around and behind seal.
4. Screw in a self-taping screw.
5. Use pliers to pull out front main oil seal.
6. Clean all sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION





1. Coat lip of front main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil to aid in installation.
2. Use J 35268-A Camshaft/Front Main Seal Installer to install front main oil seal.
3. Ensure that front main oil seal is fully and evenly seated.
4. Install crankshaft gear. Refer to "Crankshaft Gear Installation".
5. Install timing belt. Refer to "Timing Belt Installation".
