Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair


REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. MAKE SURE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BRAKE LINES.

2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain engine oil.
4. Remove oil pan bolts.
5. Remove oil pan.
6. Remove oil intake pipe bolts.
7. Remove oil intake pipe.
8. Remove oil intake pipe O-ring.
9. Clean gasket surfaces.

INSTALLATION





1. Install oil intake pipe O-ring.
2. Install oil intake pipe.
3. Install oil intake pipe bolts.
- Torque: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)

IMPORTANT: Refer to "Oil Pan Replacement". Application of RTV and oil pan alignment is critical.

4. Install the oil pan.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Refill engine with 5 qts. of oil.
7. Reconnect negative battery cable.
8. Start vehicle and inspect for leaks and correct oil pressure.
