Rear Park Brake Cable (Drum)

REMOVAL





1. Disengage console park brake boot by squeezing the boot on the sides while pulling upward.





2. Loosen park brake adjusting nut to allow slack in the cable.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST.

3. Raise vehicle on hoist.
4. Disassemble rear drum brakes.





5. Disconnect rear park brake cable to front park brake cable and discard clip.





6. Remove park brake cable from brake backing plate.

INSTALLATION





1. Install park brake cable into backing plate.

NOTICE: A new attachment clip should be used whenever the park brake cables are disconnected.

2. Using a new clip, attach the rear park brake cable to the front park brake cable.
3. Assemble rear drum brakes.

NOTICE: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors. Failure to do so can cause wheel bolts to loosen in service.

4. Install wheel and tire assemblies onto hub.
5. Install wheel bolts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening to make sure torque is correct.
Torque: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
6. Adjust park brake cable.
7. Lower vehicle from hoist.
