Rear Split Folding Seat Back Cover, Pad, and Back Panel Replacement (Driver Side)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the rear seat back assembly.
2. On the wagon, remove the rear seat back beam. Refer to Seat Back Latch Beam Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Latch Beam Replacement - Rear) .




3. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry up to remove the ear seat back escutcheon.
4. Starting at the rearmost portion, pull upward to remove the rear seat latch escutcheon.




5. Pull the seat back cover J-strip off of the rear seat back panel.




6. Remove the rear seat back outer hinge from the seat back.
7. Using a trim tool, remove the rear seat back panel retainers and lift up the rear seat back panel cover.




8. Lay the cover face down and lift up the back panel to disengage the rear seat back cover rear upper attachment.




9. Remove the center arm rest fastener and remove the arm rest.
10. Remove the rear seat back cover hog rings from the foam and remove the cover/pad.



Installation Procedure





1. Transfer the new seat back pad to the new cover.




2. Position the rear seat back cover/pad onto the rear seat back panel making sure the seat back pad is properly installed over the seat back latch.
3. Fold the seat back cover upper attachment strip into the rear seat back panel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the rear seat back outer hinge with the outer hinge fasteners.

Tighten the rear folding seat back center hinge fasteners to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).





5. Install the rear seat back cover rear panel with the retainers.
6. Install the back cover.




7. Install the rear seat back cover J-strip over the seat back panel.




8. Starting at the rearmost portion of the escutcheon, locate the rear tab into the latch assembly. Push down to fully secure the escutcheon.
9. Snap the seat back cover escutcheon onto the seat back.




10. On the station wagon, install the rear seat beam. Refer to Seat Back Latch Beam Replacement - Rear (Seat Back Latch Beam Replacement - Rear) .




11. Install the rear seat back to the vehicle. Refer to Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement (Sedan) (Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement (Sedan))Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement (Wagon) (Rear Split Folding Seat Back Replacement (Wagon)) .
