Body Lock Pillar Upper Molding Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the front seat shoulder belt outer trim cover exposing the seat belt fastener.
2. Remove the seat belt fastener and remove the seat belt from the seat frame.




3. Using a trim tool, remove the outside center pillar weatherstrip.




4. Remove the shoulder belt upper fasteners.

Important: When upper and lower moldings are removed, new snap in clips must be used.



Important: Upper and lower moldings should remain attached to each other and the shoulder belt height adjuster should remain attached to the upper molding.


5. Starting at the top, pull gently on the center pillar upper molding to disengage the attaching clips. Continue until the upper molding is removed and the upper portion on the center pillar lower molding is detached from the vehicle.




6. Using a small flat-blade tool to bend the tabs and unhook the upper molding from the lower molding.




7. Move the height adjuster to the lowest position.
8. While holding the center pillar upper molding, pull on the shoulder belt adjuster to disengage the attaching clip and slider tab.
9. Using a small flat-blade tool, unsnap the center pillar hinge.
10. Route the shoulder belt through the center pillar upper molding opening.
11. Remove the center pillar upper molding.



Installation Procedure






Caution: Apply Loctite 242(R) Threadlocker US P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489), or equivalent, on all restraint bolts/nuts before installation. Failure to use such threadlocker correctly may result in personal injury.

1. Position the shoulder belt into the center pillar upper molding and snap the hinge closed.
2. Route the shoulder belt through the center pillar upper molding opening until the latch plate has been routed through the opening.




3. Snap the shoulder belt adjuster into the center pillar hinge clip.




4. Align the trim height adjuster clip to the shoulder belt adjuster pins and snap in place securing the height adjuster to the center pillar molding.
5. Test the height adjuster function.




6. Attach the center pillar upper molding to the center pillar lower molding.





Notice: Make sure that the shoulder belt is positioned behind the shoulder belt retainer.

7. Route the shoulder belt behind the shoulder belt retainer.




8. Snap the center pillar assemblies in to the center pillar making sure that the height adjuster studs are installed through the center pillar holes.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

9. Install the height adjuster fasteners.

Tighten the shoulder belt height adjuster fasteners to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

10. Install the upper molding fastener and plug

Tighten the upper molding fastener to 5 N.m (44 lb in).





11. Install the center pillar outside the weatherstrip.




12. Install the seat belt to the seat frame.

Tighten the shoulder belt to seat frame bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

13. Install the front seat belt outer trim cover.
14. Function the shoulder belt to ensure the proper operation of the shoulder belt and the height adjuster.
