When the ignition switch is turned On, and the ECM illuminates the MIL (bulb check), the voltage change on the MIL control circuit is used as a wake up signal to the theft deterrent module. This DTC indicates that the theft deterrent module has detected a problem within the theft deterrent module The theft deterrent module sends a signal to the ECM causing this DTC to set if an error occurs during initialization.

DTC PARAMETERS
This DTC will set if an initialization error occurs while the engine is cranking.

DTC P1630 is a (type D) DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Diagnose any BCM passlock DTCs first.

Perform passlock password re-learn in BCM replacement procedure.
