Schematic:

The throttle butterfly in this engine is controlled by a motor that is commanded by the ECM. If the output driver to the ECM (internal) to the ECM gets hot and shuts Off for thermal protection, or short to ground occurs internally, this code will set. This condition has to exist for a calibratable time before the error flag will set. Fuel cut off occurs 0.6 seconds after the error flag is set, and the car enters limp-home 15 seconds later.

DTC PARAMETERS
This code will set when:
^ Power stage for throttle motor either turned off or shorted to ground internal to ECM.
^ Condition exists for greater than 5 seconds.

DTC P1519 is a (type A) DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Check for intermittent circuit faults on throttle motor drive circuits. A circuit fault could cause heating and force the ECM to enter thermal protection mode.

Allow engine to cool. If DTC is still present with engine cool, ECM internal short to ground on throttle motor driver circuit may exist. Replace ECM.
