Transmission Diagnosis

The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) contains an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). The EEPROM contains program information and calibrations required for transaxle diagnostic operations. The EEPROM is not replaceable. When the TCM is replaced or a calibration update is required, the TCM must be programmed using a Scan tool When the contents of the EEPROM have changed since the TCM was programmed DTC P0601 sets. P0601 is a type A DTC.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0601 will set if:
^ TCM detects EEPROM/Flash memory corruption
^ TCM detects wrong program/calibrations checksum

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
DTC P0601 indicates the contents of the EEPROM have changed since the TCM was programmed. The only possible repair is TCM replacement. Remember to program the replacement TCM with the correct software and calibration.
