Diagnostic Chart (Part 2 Of 2):

Schematic:

This code will set if the stop lamp switch and cruise brake switch deliver conflicting information to the ECM for longer than one second. Once this failure occurs initially, a counter is started. The code sets once the counter has registered 10 failures.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0571 will set when:
^ Stop lamp switch conflicts with Cruise/Brake switch for greater than 1 second
^ 10 such occurrences recorded.

DTC P0571 is a (type D) DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
To locate an intermittent problem, use the Scan tool to monitor stop lamp switch and cruise/brake switches with ignition On, engine Off.

Wiggling wires while monitoring brake switch and cruise/brake switch may locate the area where a circuit fault exists.
