Powertrain Diagnosis

The ECM monitors battery voltage continuously after power up. This code will set if the ECM sees this voltage rise above 17 volts.

DTC PARAMETERS
DTC P0563 will set when:
^ Vehicle Speed greater than 0 mph
^ Engine running greater than 3 min.
^ Battery voltage greater than 17 volts
^ Above condition met for 200 milliseconds

DTC P0563 is a (type D) DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Monitor Ignition 1 voltage on Scan tool. Compare this voltage with actual battery voltage.

Readings should be within 0.5 volts of one another. Deviation could indicate ECM internal failure.

Check charging system.
